As Nigeria celebrates its 66th Independence Anniversary, Chevron Companies in Nigeria have reaffirmed their long-term commitment to the country’s energy future.

With over six decades of operations spanning onshore Niger Delta assets and offshore deep water blocks, the energy major continues to align its operations with Nigeria’s growth agenda through aggressive exploration, gas commercialization, and local workforce development.

Jim Swartz, Chairman and Managing Director of Chevron Companies in Nigeria, emphasized the company’s long-term outlook:

"Chevron takes a long-term view of Nigeria, with continued focus on operational excellence, efficiency, innovation, and investment across its portfolio. We remain committed to building enduring relationships that enable human progress today and in the future."

Chevron is actively countering natural field declines through infill drilling, block conversions, and high-impact exploration activities aligned with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.

Exploration & Discoveries: Recorded near-field discoveries at Meji NW-1, Delta South AA, and Awodi-07.

Portfolio Expansion: Entered licenses PPL 2000 and PPL 2001 via farm-in agreements, acquired deep water block PPL 2010, and successfully renewed OPL 215.

Deep water Development: Participating in major multi-billion dollar developments including Bonga Southwest/Aparo and Owowo/Usan, backed by recent seismic acquisition programs across core deep water holdings.

Chevron continues to support Nigeria's "Decade of Gas" initiative by turning associated gas from a byproduct into a regional commodity, significantly curbing routine flaring in the Niger Delta.

Well before the passage of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act in 2010, Chevron pioneered its own internal Local Content Policy in 1999.

Supply Chain Impact: Sustained partnerships with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) guarantee local vendors access to major engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract scopes.
